In last weeks’ post, I spoke about how I grow with families, especially the Basson family. Eben & Stiena, Boeta’s brother and sister-in-law, got a new addition to their family, little Eberhardt. He is one of the friendliest babies I’ve ever seen. He didn’t cry once the entire shoot. Even at the end of the shoot as we got a flat tire and had to watch poor Eben change tires.

We drove all the way to Carolina, from Komatipoort. The shoot was near Eben’s family farm, Nuwe Hoop, on a neighbor farm where the Basson family’s cattle graze. This farm has a stunning little history and to this day still has the same brick wall around it that was packed by hand around the farm. The farm, Leeupoort, was bought by Tommas Ewerard from England, just before the Anglo Boer War broke out. The farm house and farm stalls were built in the late 1800′s and stands till this day. I will definitely be going back to this beautiful place and one day share a whole lot more of the history that took place on this beautiful piece of land.

I hope I get a chance to photograph the Basson family again soon, these little ones grow so quickly!
